The Ascend Project Launches at UCLA

UCLA is happy to announce the launch of the Ascend Project, which aims to modernize UCLA's aging financial systems with Oracle Cloud.

Ascend is a comprehensive, multi-workstream initiative that has a planned duration of two years, culminating with the new system's go-live in July, 2021.

UCLA’s legacy financial systems were designed decades ago using now-outdated technology. Today’s technology continues to evolve rapidly. As one of the world’s most prestigious public research universities, UCLA and its financial systems must also evolve.

Using state-of-the-art cloud computing technology, the Ascend Project will streamline business processes to improve efficiency, ease of access to data, and increase productivity across UCLA’s financial systems.

Ascend Project Goals

  • Transform financial business processes, policies and technology to increase operational efficiency
  • Enable easy access to financial information
  • Implement a scalable system that will grow with the University
  • Enhance usability, mobility and self-service capabilities
